I just ate a whole pizza! It was HUGE! Fine, it was kid sized, but still! It's the first dinner we've had in NZ that doesn't consist of pasta and salad. (The infamous fish -n- chips were a lunch/snack) And it was a pretty good pizza.
We are packing for the Milford Trek and I have the strangest sense of deja vu. Didn't I just pack up my bags? Didn't I just go through this whole packing song and dance? But I suppose that I did that on the other side of the world. Three nights, and I am really going to need a shower at the end of it. Although the shower I will ultimately be getting is on a boat! We'll be spending a night on a boat and cruising around the Milford Sound. Yay! What has Mckayla excited though, is the fact that the meal is a buffet! 'Buffet!' was all that we heard from her for a while. Although, really, after four days of hiking and pasta and noodles, a buffet is a very bright spot in our future.
At home it's high school orientation. I feel a little weird, knowing that all of my friends are exploring what will be our second home for the next four years, and I'm around the world! I was able to get all of my electives and classes straight, thanks to a marvelous thing called internet.
I also have eaten a lot of chocolate. Not sure if that's relevant, but still, it was good chocolate.
I also have to get up at seven o'clock tomorrow. Today I slept in till ten. But when you look at it at the time it is at home, today I got up at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Wow, I'm going to have a very messed up sleep schedule when I get back. My internal clock was bad enough when I got here!
I miss everybody a lot. A FaceTime call today made me even more homesick. I'm also nervous about the Milford Trek. Tomorrow is 5K, the next 16K, the next 14K, and the final day 18K. You can do the math.
Missing everyone lots on the other side of the world,
Skyler
The pictures are so lovely.
ReplyDeleteAnd what is the milford sound? But it does sound interesting, especially being on a boat just crusing around.
Funny how she is so happy about the buffet, but i would too, cause it gives you so many choices to just eat away, instead of the usual pasta you mentioned.
You feel weird about your orientation back home, imagine when you actually get to step in your high school, its an amazing experience, maybe not as good as the one you are experiencing now, because traveling the world at your age, is just an amazing story waiting to be told.
Well hopefully this Trek doesnt make you sick, especially with all that running :b
I hope you and your family are enjoying yourselves. Be safe and take more pictures :)
