Hi everybuggy! (Yes, I mean, everybuggy, I feel creative)
Do you know how when we're on field trips, and we're all loud and hyper and annoying? At this campground there are a bunch of loud, British, high schoolars. All I can say, are we really that annoying? And how late are they going to stay up tonight?
Today we did the Able Tasman. Me and MK went swimming! For the first time since we've been here! YES! We also saw a lot of cute little baby seals. AWWWWWWW!!!! Here's a quick little fun history lesson that I learned from our very Kiwi water taxi Skipper, Pete:
New Zealand was first found by Able Tasman (ohhhh moment) in the 1600s. The dude was Dutch. He found New Zealand by accident and then his landing party got murdered by Mauri. Tasman never set foot on the shore of New Zealand. Then in the 1800's Captain Cook meant to land in New Zealand. He "planted the flag for king and country" basically. Then later in that century England started the New Zealand trading company to get people to settle New Zealand and Australia. A lot of people died on the journey here. And that is a section of NZ's pleasant history.
Yesterday we had our first fish -n- chips since we've been here. Which, if you know me and the types of food I like, fish is pretty high up there in the list, but not before chocolate. But the fish was sooooooo good. It was fresh butterfish and yummy chips (for you super 'Murica fans, chips are french fries). We ordered take-away (our form of take-out but that's how most fish -n- chips places are set up) and took it back to the van and pulled out our table to set it up on it. It was basically a pile of fish and chips wrapped up in newspaper and it was a free-for-all! Me and Mckalyla were so fat and happy by the end of that meal. Then we eat more food! We went to this little cafe they (mom and dad) had found 20 YEARS AGO when they were bicycle touring near the Pelorus Bridge. And, you know me, I had a shortbread biscuit (cookie) and I stole some of Daddy's tea (actually most of it, it was yummy).
Oh also, I fell of a jumping pillow. It's a pillow you jump on. I fell on my butt and got bounced off it and got a cut on my knee and toe. So it makes it really hard to wear flip flops, so I'm going barefoot. But now MK thinks its really funny that I fell of a Jumping Pillow! She's says I'm really accident prone. I won't deny it.
We're also on the South Island now, for those of you who don't know your NZ geography. We took the ferry yesterday and I watched twenty seconds of Rugby. And I thought football was violent!
We've been here a week and I haven't talked to anybody my age since, well, since I last saw my friends. I can only talk to MK! So if I come back and I'm a little more socially awkward, well, apologies.
Cheers!
Skyler
